Tennis Duo Knocks Off Ranked Foe in Key Biscayne

Doubles Team Earns Spot in ITA Regional Final

AUBURN, Ala. — LSU men’s tennis duo Olivier Borsos and Chris Simpson outlasted their opponent Sunday to land a spot in the doubles main draw final at the USTA/ITA Southern Regional in Auburn, Ala.
 
Borsos and Simpson knocked off Mississippi State’s Louis Cant and Malte Stropp 8-6 to clinch the victory.
 
“Chris and Olivier have really come together as team this tournament,” head coach Jeff Brown said. “They are proving be a strong combination.”
 
In singles, Borsos fought hard, but went down in straight sets at the hands of Ole Miss’ Jonas Lutjen.
 
“Olivier had a great tournament and I am really proud of how he played,” Brown said. “He has shown that he is a player that is ready to compete at a high level.”
 
Borsos and Simpson will play Mississippi State tandem Jonas Lutjen and Johan Backstorm in the doubles final which is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m CT Monday morning.
