AUBURN, Ala. — The LSU men’s tennis team swept the first round of singles and earned six wins in the second round to advance Thursday at the USTA/ITA Southern Regional Championships in Auburn, Ala.
After falling in doubles, nine out of the ten Tigers that traveled to Auburn came away with a victory in singles play. Matt Zachary, Chris Simpson, David Roberts, Tom Knights, Mark Bowtell, James Turbervill, Neal Skupski, Olivier Borsos and Stefan Szacinski all picked up wins against their opponents.
“We had a great start to the tournament today,” assistant coach Danny Bryan said. “We look to continue to improve in doubles and keep our momentum going. The guys are really looking forward to tomorrow and hopefully we will come away with some more wins.”
Singles play will continue Friday at 8:30 a.m. CT with doubles play to follow at 4:30 p.m. CT.
