BATON ROUGE – As the No. 3-ranked LSU Lady Tigers prepare for their final tournament of the fall this weekend, Golfweek Magazine named them the women’s college golf team of the week for their efforts in winning the recent Tar Heel Invitational.
LSU rallied over the final nine holes to defeat Alabama in the event, shooting eight-under 856 to take the title with freshman Madelene Sagstrom taking home fifth place at seven-under par 209. Tessa Teachman and Austin Ernst also had top 15 finishes in the event as LSU goes second-first in the last two Tar Heel events.
The Lady Tigers, third in the NGCA Coaches poll, are presently sixth in the Golfstat performance chart (as of Oct. 13), one of just two teams in the country along with Oklahoma State to have two team wins as of that date.
LSU, which won the College of Charleston Cougar Classic earlier in the fall, travels to the second SEC/Pac 10 Challenge which begins on Friday in Knoxville.
