TULSA, Okla. — Junior Olivier Borsos nabbed a nail-biting win Monday against New Mexico’s 81st ranked Jadon Phillips at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla.
Borsos fell behind early losing the first set 6-3, but battled back to take the second set 7-5. With the match on the line, Borsos outlasted Phillips to take the final set 7-6 and advance to the second qualifying round.
“Olivier fought hard today and came out with an impressive victory,” assistant coach Danny Bryan said. “He is excited and really looking forward to moving on in this tournament.”
Borsos will continue singles play tomorrow against Ohio State’s Connor Smith at 11:00 a.m. CT.
Doubles will also start tomorrow for the Tigers. Borsos and teammate Neal Skupski will pair up and take the court at 3:30 p.m. C.T. to take on East Tennessee State’s Jesus Bandres and Sander Gille.
