BATON ROUGE — Senior Neal Skupski and junior Olivier Borsos of the LSU men’s tennis team will travel to Tulsa, Okla. to compete in the 2011 ITA Men’s All-American Championships hosted by the University of Tulsa at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Borsos will open play for the Tigers Monday in the singles qualifying round against University of New Mexico’s Jadon Phillips at 8 a.m. CT on court 3.

“This is great opportunity for Olivier to go up against the top players in the country,” assistant coach Danny Bryan said. “He will have a tough match Monday, but he is looking forward to competing at a high level.”

Skupski, ranked No. 31 in the country by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, has already qualified for the singles main draw and will begin play on Thursday.

In 2008, former LSU tennis standout Michael Venus became the first and only player in the history of the LSU men’s tennis program to capture the All-American crown when he defeated then top-ranked Oleksandr Nedovyesov of Oklahoma State 7-6 (5), 2-6, 6-4.

In addition to competing in singles play, Borsos and Skupski will make their debut on the court together on Tuesday in the first qualifying round of doubles. The time is yet to be announced.
