BATON ROUGE – LSU gymnastics fall practice is in full swing after one week of workouts in the Maddox Field House.
The team has completed full workouts consisting of weight training and conditioning with strength & conditioning coach Earl Chevalier three mornings a week and daily afternoon practices in the gymnastics training center.
“They have made remarkable progress in a week’s time,” assistant coach Philip Ogletree said. “They are twisting their vaults onto solid surfaces. On bars they are doing full routines without the dismount. They are completing full sets on beam, and on floor they are doing full routines with one to two tumbling passes, repeating the final pass twice.”
On Tuesday, the team shot video of the morning workout and routines from the afternoon practice.
After taking Thursday off as a recovery day the team will work on routines and performances on each apparatus Friday in preparation for the first intrasquad on Oct. 14.
Friday’s practice will be shortened so the gymnasts can take part in the annual team banquet that evening at the Faculty Club on campus.
