COSTA MESA, Calif. — Senior Neal Skupski and partner Chris Eaton ousted the No. 1 seed Bumpei Sato and Artem Sitak earlier today to earn a spot in the doubles final of the USTA Futures Event in Costa Mesa, Calif.
Skupski and Eaton proved to be a good fit, winning in straight sets with the last set extending into a tiebreaker (6-4,7-6).
“They played really well today and had a good win,” assistant coach Danny Bryan said. “We are looking forward to the finals tomorrow.”
The duo will play not before 1 p.m. PDT tomorrow for the USTA Futures title. Their opponents have not yet been decided.
