KILEEN CASTLE, Ireland – LSU senior women’s golfer Jacqueline Hedwall of Sweden will be a part of the Solheim Cup women’s golf matches that begin on Friday between the United States and Europe when she caddies for her twin sister, Caroline.
The teams will play foursomes and four ball matches on both Friday and Saturday before the singles finals on Sunday in a format similar to the men’s Ryder Cup matches that pit the same two teams. The matches were first held in 1990 with the United States winning eight of the 11 renewals of the event.
Caroline Hedwall, the 2010 NCAA Champion at Oklahoma State, turned pro this year and has four professional victories this year. Three of those came on the Ladies European Tour (LET) and another on the Australian Ladies Professional Golf Tour. She was a captain’s pick of European captain Alison Nicholas for the squad.
This will not be the first time that Jacqueline has caddied for her sister as she lopped for sister in at least three events over the summer.
Prior to turning pro, Caroline won the European Amateur Championship for women in 2007, 2009 and 2010.
The event will be televised all weekend on the Golf Channel with live coverage beginning early Friday and Saturday morning at 1:30 a.m. CT with the singles finals on Sunday beginning at 4 a.m.
