MINNEAPOLIS — LSU Junior Kaitlin Burns won the Mauer Singles Consolation Flight Championship in straight sets at the 2011 Gopher Invitational on the campus of the University of Minnesota.
The win means Burns has now emerged victorious from six of her last eight singles matches dating back to the spring season.
LSU’s Paige Bahnsen and Hayley Everett also won the Gray Doubles Flight Consolation Flight in their first tournament as a doubles team.
Rain forced many of Sunday’s matches indoors causing a number matches to end prematurely.
The Lady Tigers next take the courts at the Stephen F. Austin Fall Invitational in Nacogdoches, Texas, on Friday, Sept. 30.
