COLUMBIA, Mo. – Former LSU All-America gymnast Jennifer Green has joined the Missouri gymnastics program as an assistant coach, the school announced recently.

Green, formerly Lyerly, was a four-year letterwinner at LSU from 1986-89, and she earned All-America status on vault as a sophomore in 1987. She also guided LSU to the 1986 NCAA Central Regional championship.

As a senior in 1988 she tied for the SEC Vault title with fellow Tiger Julianne Wilson, and the Tigers captured the vault team title at the SEC Championship.

“Jennifer talked to me about it this summer, and I talked to the coaches at Missouri because I’ve known them for a long time,” LSU head coach D-D Breaux said. “I couldn’t say enough good things about Jennifer. She has worked in the age group program coaching level 10’s and elite level gymnasts since she graduated from LSU.

“It’s an opportunity for her to do something that she has always dreamed of doing, and I think Missouri will be a perfect fit for her. She was an All-American here at LSU and one of the strongest vaulters we had until we got Ashleigh Clare-Kearney and Susan Jackson. She’s dynamic, and she will do a great job for Missouri.”

LSU will open up fall practice in September as the Tigers gear up for the 2012 season. Follow LSU gymnastics on www.Facebook.com/lsugym and Twitter (@LSUgym) for the latest insights into the program.
