BATON ROUGE – Four LSU swimmers wrapped up their second day of competition at the ConocoPhillips US Nationals hosted at Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif.
Junior Amanda Kendall blasted through preliminaries with a 200-meter freestyle short lived lifetime best of 2:01.86 and made her second ‘C’ Final of the week.
Kendall drastically improved her 200m time in the ‘C’ Final with an impressive 2:00.14 and finished 22nd overall in the event. Her ‘C’ Final time was the 12th best out of the 30 swimmers who qualified for one of the three finals.
Kendall set her lifetime best in the 100m butterfly (1:00.00) on Tuesday and finished 23rd. She will be competing in the 50 free today and the 100 free on Saturday, and will look to crack either an ‘A’ or ‘B’ final in both events.
Junior Nick Kunkel set his lifetime best in the 100m backstroke with a time of 58.67. He will compete in the 200m back on Saturday after qualifying for US Nationals with a time of 1:46.74 in the 200yd back at SEC Championships.
Junior Chelsea Griffiths competed in the 100m back and swam a lifetime best of 1:05.71.
Junior Jana Ruimerman also swam in the 100m back, and posted a mark of 1:06.58. She will be competing in the 200m back Friday, following a successful season where she earned NCAA All-America Honorable Mention in the 200yd back en route to posting the second fastest mark in school history. She qualified for this event at the LA TAQ Summer Classic in June with a time of 2:18.10.
