BATON ROUGE – LSU softball fans are in store for a full weekend of events when No. 24 Kentucky visits Tiger Park this weekend.
Friday’s series opener at 6 p.m. marks the program’s third annual breast cancer survivor recognition game. Prior to first pitch, LSU will acknowledge and pay tribute to breast cancer survivors during team introductions on the field. Survivors can register by filling out the registration form or by contacting LSU Marketing and Promotions directly at 225-578-6884.
Friday also serves as the first of two “Student Point Games” in which students earn priority points based on their attendance at LSU athletic events that can be used to help with ticket priority for future games.
Leading into Saturday’s middle game at 1p.m., the Tigers will celebrate 21 former players scheduled to attend for Alumnae Day. A trio of All-Americans Ashlee Ducote, Leslie Klein and Kristin Schmidt-Duplanits will be on-hand, while the first 1,000 fans will receive a commemorative 150 Years of LSU Coca-Cola bottle.
Throwing out the ceremonial first pitch Saturday will be Jennie Reeves, Jennifer Schuelke and Julie Wiese-Hawkins representing LSU’s 2001 Women’s College World Series team. In addition, nine players from Carol Smith’s 1979-81 teams are scheduled to attend the event. A complete list of reserved alumnae is below.
Mike’s Kids Club members will have a special day at the ballpark during Sunday’s series finale at 1 p.m. Before the game, members who have emailed mikeskidsclub@lsu.edu will be given a tour of Tiger Park in addition to running out with the LSU players during team introductions on the field.
All three games of the Kentucky series will be broadcasted live on ESPN 104.5 FM in Baton Rouge with Patrick Wright and Kent Lowe on the call.
