Men's Basketball Scores Second Win in Italy

Men’s Basketball Draws Vandy in SEC Tournament

BATON ROUGE – With the final game of the regular season played earlier Sunday between Tennessee and Kentucky, the LSU Tigers now officially know their first round opponent in the 2011 Southeastern Conference Tournament which begins Thursday in Atlanta, Ga., at the Georgia Dome.

Kentucky’s win over Tennessee made the Wildcats the No. 2 seed in the East and put Vanderbilt in the East 3 position that will face LSU, the West 6 representative, in the final game of the first round at 10 p.m. EST (9 p.m. Baton Rouge time) on Thursday.

LSU is 11-20 on the year, 3-12 in the SEC, while Vanderbilt 21-9 and 9-7 in the league tied with Georgia for third but Vanderbilt got the tiebreaker after sweeping Georgia this season.

The game will be regionally televised on the SEC Network (WBXH-TV in Baton Rouge) and ESPN3 and broadcast on the LSU Sports Radio Network (WTGE New Country 100.7 FM The Tiger in Baton Rouge) and on LSUsports.net/live.

The first day afternoon session has W5 Auburn vs. E4 Georgia at 1 p.m. EST followed by E6 South Carolina vs. W3 Ole Miss. The evening session begins at 7:30 p.m. EST with E5 Tennessee meeting W4 Arkansas prior to the LSU-Vanderbilt game.

Florida and Kentucky have the two byes from the East and Alabama and Mississippi State have the byes in the West.

The Tigers will have their pre-tournament media session at the Georgia Dome at 4:30 p.m. EST on Wednesday and then have an hour practice in the Dome at 5 p.m.
