BATON ROUGE – As members of the LSU soccer team continue to prepare for the fall campaign during their 2011 spring training season, the Tigers made the trip to Dallas, Texas, over the weekend for a match against Conference USA power SMU at Westcott Field.
The Tigers and Mustangs played to a scoreless draw on Saturday afternoon as LSU pushed its spring slate to 0-1-1 through two matches. The Tigers dropped a narrow 1-0 decision to Big 12 Conference power and NCAA Elite Eight veterans Oklahoma State in their 2011 spring season opener back on Feb. 19.
LSU will continue its spring season on Saturday, March 18, with its much anticipated Alumni Match held indoors at the newly-established Premier Soccer Center in St. Gabriel, La., with kickoff set for 7 p.m. CT.
The Tigers will also sandwich matches against the Texas Longhorns in Houston on March 26 and Florida State in Orange Beach, Ala., on April 9 around a match against in-state rival Nicholls State in Metairie on April 3 with kickoff set for noon CT. LSU’s match against Nicholls State will be the highlight of the 2011 Big Easy Invitational being held at Lafreniere Park.
