KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. – The LSU men’s tennis team clinched wins in seven out of eight singles matches and added two doubles victories on day two of the Key Biscayne Invitational in Key Biscayne, Fla. on Saturday.

The Tigers squared off against No. 4 Texas in doubles to begin the day and earned wins in two out of four matches.

The 27th-ranked LSU duo of Sebastian Carlsson and Neal Skupski picked up their second win of the weekend at the top doubles spot as they defeated the fifth-ranked Texas pair of Jean Anderson and Ed Corrie 8-6. Roger Anderson and Olivier Borsos also notched a doubles victory for the Tigers over Texas’ Vasko Mladenov and Daniel Whitehead 8-4 at the No. 3 spot.

Later in the day the Tigers carried their doubles momentum into singles play against the University of Denver, ranked 40th in the nation, and picked up victories in seven out of eight matches.

Skupski captured a three-set win over 25th-ranked Enej Bonin, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. Anderson, Borsos, Mark Bowtell, Carlsson, Julien Gauthier and Stefan Szacinski also picked up singles victories for LSU.

“We started the day off strong in double against a very good Texas team,” said LSU head coach Jeff Brown. “Then we won seven out of eight singles matches, and they were very high quality and intense matches. We are looking forward to coming out and wrapping the tournament up tomorrow.”
