BATON ROUGE – The 45th-ranked LSU men’s tennis team will take the court for the first time in 2011 at the Key Biscayne Invitational Jan. 7-9 at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park in Key Biscayne, Fla.

Seniors Sebastian Carlsson and Julien Gauthier, juniors Mark Bowtell, Neal Skupski and Tom Knights, and sophomores Roger Anderson, Olivier Borsos and Stefan Szacinski will compete for the Tigers in both singles and doubles against top competition from around the country.

“We are excited to get the season underway and start early this year,” LSU head coach Jeff Brown said. “It is good to have the team together to start getting focused on the spring and we are excited to compete.”

Other teams competing in the three-day tournament include No. 4 Texas, No. 25 Michigan and No. 40 Denver. There will be no team scoring, and in both singles and doubles each player will compete individually for points.

LSU will begin on Friday at 11:30 a.m. CDT against Michigan in doubles competition before taking on Texas in singles at approximately 12:30 p.m.
