Former Tiger Theriot to Hold Celebrity Golf Benefit

BATON ROUGE — The former LSU star will host on Friday the First Annual Ryan Theriot Celebrity Golf Classic Carter Plantation in Springfield, La.  Along with some good friends, Ryan hopes to raise awareness and funds to benefit the National Wildlife Federation’s Gulf Oil Spill Restoration Fund, the Autism Society of America Greater Baton Rouge Chapter and Fore! Kids Foundation.
 
Several athletes and celebrities have already confirmed to lend their name and their golf skills to the cause, including new World Series champion Mike Fontenot of the San Francisco Giants, Ryan’s double-play partner from LSU.  Other athletes with local ties attending are Tampa Bay Rays infielder Reid Brignac from St. Amant, La., former MLB players Will Clark from New Orleans and Todd Walker, who starred at LSU.  Former University of Louisiana at Lafayette stars Jonathan Lucroy and Paul Bako will also attend, as will former LSU football star Josh Reed from Rayne, La. and rapper Paul Wall. 

New Orleans native and radio celebrity Gordy Rush will serve as emcee.

The Golf Classic will also have a special musical performance by country music star and Lafayette resident Sammy Kershaw.  There will be a silent auction featuring jerseys signed by New Orleans Saints players, New Orleans Hornets team-signed ball and more.

Ryan will also host a tailgate party Walk-On’s in Baton Rouge before the LSU homecoming game against Louisiana Monroe on November 13.  Advance tickets can be purchased on www.ryantheriot.com.

About the National Wildlife Federation Gulf Oil Spill Restoration Fund
National Wildlife Federation (NWF) has established the Gulf Oil Spill Restoration Fund to support its efforts to protect impacted wildlife and habitats and restore delicate ecosystems that were impacted by the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill disaster.
