WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The LSU women’s tennis team closed out the 2010 fall season on Sunday, competing in singles against opponents from Furman and Wake Forest on the final day of the Wake Forest Fall Invitational.
Junior Whitney Wolf picked up her second win of the weekend at the No. 1 spot. The Pride, La., native took down Furman’s Monica Arguello in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. On Friday, Wolf teamed up with Yvette Vlaar and earned an 8-5 victory over Arguello and Margarett Boyette in No. 1 doubles.
At No. 5 singles, senior Kylie Adameck bested Jenny Porter of Furman for the second time this weekend, winning in straights sets 6-4, 6-4. Adameck, a product of Baton Rouge, paired with teammate Ebie Wilson on Friday and picked up an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles over Porter and Olivia Maurice.
“I was really impressed with Kylie today,” LSU head coach Tony Minnis said. “She really stepped up her game and got us a huge win. Whitney continued her high level of play and got another quality win.”
The tournament closes out the fall season for the Lady Tigers, who will now turn their attention to preparing for the 2011 spring season.
