Track’s Pinckney Captures Silver at World Juniors

MONCTON, Canada — LSU sprinter Takeia Pinckney raced to a silver-medal finish in the 100-meter dash Wednesday at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Moncton, Canada.

Pinckney (United States) clocked a time of 11.49 seconds to emerge with runner-up honors after advancing to the finals with a mark of 11.71 in the semifinals. The rising sophomore registered the fastest time in the preliminary heats on Tuesday, 11.48. 

A native of Atlanta, Pinckney proved to be one of the top freshman sprinters in the nation during both the indoor and outdoor seasons as she earned fourth in the 100-meter final at the NCAA Outdoor Championships and placed seventh in the 60-meter final at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
