Mitchell to Debut in NBA Summer League

BATON ROUGE – Former LSU basketball star Tasmin Mitchell will make his professional debut on Tuesday when the Cleveland Cavaliers team plays its first of five games in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.

Mitchell, a first-team All-SEC selection in 2009 and second-team in 2010, who finished his career as the third leading scorer all-time for LSU, will wear No. 30 Tuesday when the Cavs open play against the NBDL Select Team at 5 p.m. CDT at the Cox Pavilion on the UNLV campus. The game will be televised live on NBA-TV.

The team is mainly made up of Cleveland’s young veterans and free agents, headlined by forward J. J. Hickson and guard Danny Green and 2009’s No. 30 draft pick Christian Eyenga.

The team will play five games in six days with games Wednesday (vs. Phoenix), Friday (Chicago), Saturday (Miami) and Sunday (Milwaukee). The Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday games will be the games televised live on NBA TV.

Paul Pressey will be the head coach for the summer league team and one of the assistant coaches will be former LSU assistant John Treloar, who is the head coach of the Cavaliers D-League franchise in Erie.
