SOUTH BEND, Ind. – With all five LSU Tigers playing the back nine during Friday’s second round at the 2010 NCAA Central Regional Championships, play was suspended with heavy thunderstorms causing lengthy delays at The Warren Golf Course throughout the afternoon and more expected into the evening.

The second round will continue from the point of interruption at 7 a.m. CDT on Saturday. After wrapping up the second round, teams will not be regrouped based on the 36-hole scores. Players will remain in their groups with final round tee times set to begin on the back nine at 7:30 a.m. and the front nine at 7:50 a.m.

The Tigers were called off the course with players on holes Nos. 13-17. LSU currently sits in eighth place in the team standings at 10-over par for the championship.

LSU must climb its way back into the top five of the final team standings to earn a qualifying spot for the NCAA Men’s Golf Championships scheduled for June 1-6 at The Honors Course in Chattanooga, Tenn.

The No. 5-seeded Tigers are currently four shots out of qualifying position. No. 1 seed Stanford has taken its first-round lead to three shots in the second round as it currently sits at 4-under par for the tournament. No. 3 seed Florida State follows in second place at 1-under par, while No. 9 seed Northwestern (2-over), No. 2 seed Florida (5-over) and No. 8 seed Michigan (6-over) round out the top five.

Junior All-American John Peterson continues to lead the way for LSU as he is 3-over for his round and even-par for the championship after being called off the course on the 13th hole. He currently sits in a 13th-place tie on the individual leaderboard with six holes to play in the second round.

Fellow junior Andrew Loupe also remains in the Top 20 of the leaderboard in a tie for 19th place at 1-over par for the second round and 1-over for the championship after suspending play on the 14th hole.
