BATON ROUGE – As the last remnants of legendary Alex Box Stadium fall to the ground, some classic elements of the old ballpark will be up for auction at AlexBoxAuctions.net in the coming weeks, including the iconic bronze letters that spelled “Alex Box Stadium” at the front of the ballpark.
Between now and April 11 when the sale of items comes to an end, Tiger baseball fans have the opportunity to purchase or bid on some valuable artifacts and collectibles from the old Box. Once the project is complete, these items will never be available to the LSU fan base again.
The Alex Box Auctions project benefits LSU in both the athletic and academic arenas.
“This is a great opportunity to wrap your arms around a piece of real LSU baseball history,” said LSU baseball coach Paul Mainieri. “This is a wonderful project and I encourage fans to get involved whole-heartedly.”
Gold Seats and bleacher products are currently available at a 20 percent discount through the end of the project on April 11.
For the next four weeks, every Thursday afternoon, another round of Featured Auctions will close, from signage to artifacts to some amazing, one-of-a-kind items. Several of the biggest and most unique available for bid in the coming weeks are the Alex Box Stadium sign from the top of the scoreboard, wrought iron gates from the entrances to the stadium and the actual bronze letters that were removed from the front of the stadium before it was demolished.
