St. Germain Leads Divers at NCAA Regional

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — LSU diver Rebecca St. Germain delivered a seventh-place finish in the women’s three-meter competition at the NCAA Zone ‘D’ Diving Regional Saturday at Texas A&M’s Student Rec Center Natatorium.

The freshman tallied consistent scores of 300.25 and 305.60 in the prelims and finals, respectively, to earn a combined total of 605.85. Her seventh-place finish will put her in the hunt for a berth to the 2010 NCAA Championships depending on Sunday’s competition on platform.

Sophomore Brian Gemberling posted a 10th-place finish for the second-consecutive day as the Levittown, Pa., native recorded a 587.00 combined score on the men’s one-meter.

Freshman Jesse Lyman reached the finals of the one-meter, placing 18th with a combined score of 495.55. Fellow freshman Elle Schmidt finished 29th in the women’s three-meter, registering a mark of 238.45.

Defending NCAA one-meter champion Drew Livingston of Texas took top honors on that board with a combined score of 754.95. Houston’s Anastasia Pozdniakova emerged victorious for the second-straight day, winning the women’s three-meter (751.90).
