BATON ROUGE — The No. 29 LSU women’s tennis team will host UL-Lafayette and Prairie View A&M Sunday to kick off the 2010 dual season at W.T. “Dub” Robinson Stadium.
“We’re really excited to get the spring dual season started. Dual matches are so much more fun than tournaments,” said head coach Tony Minnis. “I’m excited to see the type of fight and intensity our team has this year.”
The match marks the first time in three seasons the Lady Tigers will open the season at home and will be the first match of the season for both UL-Lafayette and Prairie View A&M.
Last season, LSU blanked the Ragin’ Cajuns on the road and the Lady Panthers at home in 2007.
This season, LSU showcases 120th-ranked Whitney Wolf. Wolf completed the fall season with a 10-6 singles record, including a win over then-ranked No. 66 Anna Redesci of DePaul.
Following closely behind Wolf is senior Nicole Kantor who finished the fall with a 9-5 singles record and a ranked-win over ULM’s No. 102 Claire Clark.
As a team, LSU brings back three of the six starters from last season’s team as Kantor, Wolf and senior Hannah Robinson return.
First serve is slated for 11 a.m. versus UL-Lafayette with the Prairie View A&M match immediately following.
