CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – After a back-and-forth three-set battle, senior Nicole Kantor of the LSU women’s tennis team knocked off Virginia’s preseason-ranked No. 54 Emily Fraser 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 Saturday at the UVA Winter Invitational hosted by Virginia at the Boyd Tinsley Courts in Charlottesville, Va.
In doubles, the Lady Tiger tandem of Whitney Wolf and Keri Frankenberger gave tremendous effort as the duo pulled away with an impressive 8-6 victory over UVA’s Lindsey Hardenbergh and Erin Vierra.
“Nicole Kantor had a huge win today. She played great, and I was really proud of Whitney and Keri’s win in doubles,” said head coach Tony Minnis.
“This is great opportunity for us to practice and play some good, quality matches.”
