Softball Continues Fall Season at Tiger Park

BATON ROUGE ? The LSU softball team continues its fall season by playing host to its second fall tournament this weekend at Tiger Park. Admission is free all weekend.

The Tigers square off against LSU-Alexandria and Chipola CC Saturday before facing Chipola CC and Nicholls State on Sunday. Games times on both days are slated for 10 a.m. and Noon, respectively.

“The fall is always a good opportunity for our players to perform under a different atmosphere,” head coach Yvette Girouard said. “We invite our fans to join us and hope to continue to learn more about the 2009-10 Tigers this weekend.”

LSU’s pitching staff was dominant and strung together a trio of one-hit shutouts last weekend. Cody Trahan racked up eight strikeouts in her five innings of work. Kirsten Shortridge fueled the offense and hit safely in all three games, including a pair of multi-hit efforts. Allison Falcon also provided a team-best three RBIs.

The Tigers tallied a 34-18-1 record during the 2009 season and made its 11th NCAA Regional appearance since softball was reinstated in 1997. The Tigers are sixth nationally and have racked up an impressive 441-137-1 record since Girouard took over the program prior to the 2001 season.
