BATON ROUGE — LSU continued its preparation for Saturday’s game against 14th-ranked Georgia with another good workout here Wednesday at the Charles McClendon Practice Facility.
The Tigers, ranked No. 4 in the nation, will face the Bulldogs at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday in Athens. The game will be televised nationally by CBS. LSU goes into the game 4-0 overall and 2-0 in league play, while Georgia is 3-1 overall and 2-0 in conference action.
“The tempo of practice was good,” LSU coach Les Miles said following Wednesday’s workout. “I liked the way we came out and the effort and intensity that we practiced with. We’ve had a good week of preparation. I know we are looking forward to playing in this game.”
One area of concentration this week has been that of the running game, something that the Tigers struggled with last week against Mississippi State. LSU goes into the Georgia game averaging 130 yards rushing a contest.
“I like our guys’ attitude,” Miles said of the offensive line and running backs. “They worked hard at it (this week). We changed the recipe with not so much work against the scout team, but more good versus good during practice. We came off the football and that’s always a good sign.”
Miles said that he will continue to go with the starting line that the Tigers have used through the first four games of the season against Georgia ? center T-Bob Hebert, guards Lyle Hitt and Josh Dworaczyk and tackles Ciron Black and Joseph Barksdale.
“I think there’s still competition, but I like the guys that are the starters at this point,” Miles said of the offensive line.
Miles said he likes the mindset of his team as they go into the Georgia game in Athens.
“I think (our team) understands that to be 5-0 we have to play well,” Miles said. “I think our guys understand that if you don’t come to play every Saturday you can finish second real quick. I think our guys will come to play.”
Due to the Fall Break on the LSU campus on Thursday and Friday, the Tigers will change their practice schedule tomorrow, going earlier in the afternoon. The Tigers will have a walk through on Friday morning before departing for Atlanta after lunch.
