BATON ROUGE — The LSU Tiger cheerleaders, putting final touches on their cheers prior to leaving Thursday for Seattle and the opening football game, and the Tiger Girls, already busy working on their dance routines for the upcoming basketball season, received a visit Wednesday at their respective practices from LSU men’s basketball coach Trent Johnson.
Johnson joined the cheerleaders in a pizza lunch as a sendoff for their opening trip to Seattle for Saturday’s game.
Johnson also spoke to the Tiger Girls at their separate practice session to thank them for their contributions to the atmosphere at LSU basketball games and treated them to an early dinner after their practice session.
Both groups are considered among the finest in the nation and return annually with top awards in the national competitions held each winter.
The cheerleaders held their drills Wednesday in the indoor football facility, while the Tiger Girls train in the LSU rec center. Both groups are directed by Pauline Zernott.
