BATON ROUGE — Head coach Yvette Girouard announced the hiring of former Tiger Quinlan Duhon Wednesday as director of operations effective immediately. Duhon replaces Adam Roorbach, who accepted an assistant coaching position at Kansas last month. She spent last season interning with LSU’s Marketing and Promotions Department while completing her degree.
“I wish Adam the best of luck and fortune at his new job in Kansas,” Girouard said. “At the same time, I’m pleased to hire someone like Quinlan who I have known since she was eight years old. She is the epitome of a loyal, true, purple and gold bleeding Tiger that is always looking to better LSU.”
“I am extremely honored and thrilled to have an opportunity to join the LSU softball staff,” Duhon said. “LSU, its coaches, administrators and players stand for first class. I fully intend on continuing the strong tradition of the softball program as we move forward. LSU holds a very special place in my heart. The passion and pride surrounding this University is unrivaled.”
Duhon will coordinate team travel along with assisting the program with recruiting functions. She also will supervise the academic progress and handle video motivation for the Tigers.
During her playing career, Duhon was a part of three NCAA Regional teams highlighted by the 2006 and 2007 Super Regional squads. She scored the walk-off, game-winning run in a 5-4 triumph over Louisiana-Lafayette in the 2006 NCAA Regional championship game.
Duhon also had a memorable postseason in 2007 being named to both the NCAA Palo Alto Regional and Tempe Super Regional All-Tournament teams as LSU racked up its fourth SEC Western Division crown and fourth SEC Tournament title during the Girouard era.
As one of three captains for the 2008 team, Duhon posted career-bests in batting average (.333), hits (54), home runs (11), RBIs (38), on-base (.424) and slugging percentage (.605) en route to an All-SEC and All-Louisiana Second-Team honors.
Duhon finished her LSU career ranked third belting 30 career home runs and is listed among the school’s Top 10 in walks (68), RBIs (128), total bases (300) and sacrifice flies (13). She is one of only 11 players in program history to score over 100 runs and post over 150 career hits. The Youngsville native also was a four-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection.
“Quinlan is a bright, hard working, grounded individual who has always represented LSU with the utmost class,” Girouard said. “She is the definition of what Tiger softball players should strive to be. We have absolutely hit a home run with the addition of Quinlan to our staff. Her unique spirit touches everyone she meets.”
Duhon earned her bachelor’s degree in general business in December 2008 and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in sports management.
