ATHENS, Ga. — Suddenly the 37th Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic for the LSU women’s golf team and 17 other teams has turned into a one-day, 18-hole shootout.
For the second straight day, play at the Liz Murphey was cancelled due to rain. The golf tournament, one of the longest-standing intercollegiate competitions in women’s athletics, will be contested as an 18-hole event on Sunday.
With a forecast of rain and severe weather after over two inches of rain on Friday that wiped out the first round, tournament officials elected to cancel the second round before teams even reached the golf course.
Play is slated to begin with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday. Live scoring will be available at www.LSUsports.net through Golfstat.com.
