Own a piece of history from the opening night at the new Alex Box Stadium. The first pitch will be enshrined in the LSU Athletics Hall of Fame. However, you can own the ball that was used to record the first out by bidding now on LSUauction.net.

LSU senior pitcher Louis Coleman and catcher Micah Gibbs recorded the first out when Coleman struckout Villanova leadoff batter Matt McFolling at approximately 7:19 p.m. CDT.

The auction of the ball will end Monday, March 2, at 2 p.m. CDT.

Also, exclusive photo prints from the historic evening are now available to purchase on LSUpix.net. Find images in the Baseball and LSU Venues categories on LSUpix.net now. Fans can even purchase a print of the commemorative GameDay Program cover.

Another feature from the opening night is LSUsports.net’s time-lapse video. Spanning more than seven hours — from the opening of the gates until the lights are turned off — this one-minute video captures the opening night like nothing else.

After more than 70 years at the original Alex Box Stadium just down the street, the LSU baseball team moved into a new 9,200-seat venue at the corner of Nicholson Dr. and Gourrier Dr. on the southwest side of LSU’s campus.

The Tigers opened the $35 million facility on Friday, Feb. 20, 2009 at 7 p.m. against Villanova.

Visit LSUauction.net for more information or to place your bid now.

Minimum bids and bid increments apply. Additional shipping costs will be incurred for auction winners unless item is picked up at the LSU Athletics Department by appointment.
