No. 22 Softball Ready for Easton Purple & Gold Challenge

BATON ROUGE — The No. 22 LSU softball team plays host to its second consecutive tournament as Northern Iowa, Texas State and UAB visit the new Tiger Park for the Easton Purple & Gold Challenge this weekend.

In the previous nine Easton Purple & Gold Challenges, LSU has won 42 of its 45 games, including six undefeated weekends.

LSU (6-4) has already played four extra inning games and had two additional games decided in the final two innings this season.

Pitcher/outfielder Kirsten Shortridge has hit safely in seven of her last eight games, including four multi-hit efforts. She and shortstop Juliana Santos have combined for seven of LSU’s 13 multi-hit games.

The Tigers were rained out Wednesday at Southeastern Louisiana and open the tournament Friday against Northern Iowa. First pitch is on-tap for 6 p.m. with live stats available on LSUSports.net
