BATON ROUGE — Nine members of the No. 22 LSU softball team took advantage of their day off from practice Monday to spend time visiting a children’s ward in Baton Rouge area hospital.
The Tigers (6-4) went from room-to-room to spend time with the kids, hand out posters, sign autographs and take pictures.
“The smile on these young children’s faces is absolutely priceless,” junior centerfielder/pitcher Kirsten Shortridge said. “As an athlete sometimes ‘we feel things are so rough’ but to visit this hospital and touch these children’s lives in a matter of five minutes is really life changing. It truly puts life in perspective and helps us realize how blessed we really are.”
LSU returns to action Wednesday at Southeastern Louisiana before returning to the new Tiger Park this weekend for the Easton Purple & Gold Challenge. First pitch against the Lions is set for 5:30 p.m. and live stats are available on LSUsports.net.
