BATON ROUGE — LSU catcher Micah Gibbs and pole vaulter Lauren Saucier spent their Saturday by taking part in the O’Brien House I’m a Good Too! Youth Festival at the Baranco-Clark YMCA.
The festival was designed as a preventive measure to show kids they can have fun and be successful by being drug free, staying in school, staying away from violence, and respecting parents and adults.
Gibbs and Saucier spoke to about 150 kids at the event with a message about making good choices to achieve goals. The kids also had the opportunity to meet and talk with Gibbs and Saucier one-on-one at a festival table. They offered words of encouragement, took pictures, and handed out posters to the kids.
The mission of the O’Brien House is to save lives from alcoholism and drug abuse through residential treatment and community outreach.
