AUBURN, Ala. — Senior Niko Dalman secured third-place in the three-meter springboard, and freshman Chelsea McCorvey earned fourth in the one-meter to highlight another solid day for the LSU diving teams at the Auburn Diving Invitational.

Dalman, a product of Auburn, Wash., followed up his preliminary score of 361.35 with a season-high six-dive total of 377.05 to take third in the three-meter finals. McCorvey, a native of Houston, Texas, tallied a season-best mark of 258.50 in the one-meter prelims before recording 251.80 points in the final round to place fourth.

Freshman Brian Gemberling enjoyed a fine second-day session, posting a season-high score of 310.95 in the three-meter to finish in eighth-place, while fellow freshman Matt Vieke registered a 300.00 mark to come in ninth. Lady Tiger Katie Lybbert finished ninth in the one-meter.

“I’m very optimistic with what we’ve done thus far and the direction we’re moving toward,” LSU diving coach Doug Shaffer said. “Niko did a nice job today, and Brian had his best performance to date. Chelsea performed well, just missing the NCAA Zone Regional qualifying score in the one-meter, and she’s really been making progress in our training.”

Alabama divers Aaron Fleshner and Carrie Dragland captured first-place in the three-meter and one-meter, respectively.

The Auburn Diving Invitational will wrap up Saturday with the men’s and women’s platform competitions. Start time is set for 10 a.m. (CT).
