BATON ROUGE — Cox Sports Television in conjunction with LSU Sports Properties announced Thursday afternoon that it will broadcast five LSU softball games during the 2009 season live from the new Tiger Park.
“We believe we have a fabulous home schedule featuring some of the best names in college softball,” head coach Yvette Girouard said. “We are always grateful and excited to be on live television to showcase our young Tiger team and our beautiful new Tiger Park.”
LSU opens the television schedule by squaring off with 2008 national runner-up Texas A&M at 2pm on Saturday, February 14 as part of the Easton Tiger Classic. CST also will carry the Tigers 6pm contest against Nicholls State on Wednesday, March 4.
A trio of SEC games are part of the package, including both games of a doubleheader on Saturday, April 18 against Florida, a 2008 Women’s College World Series participant, starting at 1pm. The series finale against Tennessee on Sunday, April 5 is also set for 1pm.
Cox Sports Television, the regional sports network out of New Orleans and home to the NBA’s Hornets, now has access to two million homes across seven states. It is cable channel 37 in Baton Rouge.
