PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — LSU women’s tennis player Megan Falcon fell in a hard-fought, three-set match against Miami’s Julia Cohen in the semifinals of the consolation bracket at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships on Saturday.
Fifteenth-ranked Falcon won the first set 6-3, but 25th-ranked Cohen rebounded to take the final two sets 6-3, 6-3.
The loss marked the first time Falcon had not won the consolation bracket at the tournament since she has been at LSU. In her previous two trips to the All-American tournament Falcon won the title after losing the first round match of the main draw.
“Julia Cohen played a great match,” LSU head coach Tony Minnis said. “Megan showed great strides and improvement throughout this tournament. She played better each match, but Cohen was a little tougher today.”
With LSU’s stay in the All-American tournament complete, the Lady Tigers will prep for the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Northwestern on October 10-12.
