Basketball Teams to Take Part in SEC Media Day

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The LSU men’s and women’s basketball teams will take their turn at SEC Media Days on Thursday as head coaches Trent Johnson, Van Chancellor and a group of select players are scheduled to speak to regional and national media members at the Birmingham Marriott.

LSU will be joined by Florida and Arkansas from 11 a.m. CT to 1 p.m. to conclude “Tipoff 2009”. Senior guard Garrett Temple will represent the Tigers. Junior guard Allison Hightower and senior forward Kristen Morris will speak on behalf of the Lady Tigers.

Season tickets for both teams remain on sale at the LSU Athletics’ Ticket Office starting at $95 for the women and a special 100th anniversary price of $100 for the men’s basketball team. Tickets can also be purchased online at LSUsports.net or by calling 1-800-960-TKTS or 225-578-2184.

The men play the first of 21 home games on Nov. 15 against Jackson State at 1 p.m., while the women open the season on Nov. 16 playing host to the State Farm Tip-Off Classic when they host Notre Dame in the first game of a nationally-televised doubleheader that also features Pittsburgh and Texas A&M. Tickets for the State Farm Tip-Off Classic are available for only $1.

The men’s basketball team will host a Purple-Gold Scrimmage that includes an autograph session on Tuesday, Oct. 28. The event is free to the public and doors will open at 6 p.m. with the scrimmage to begin at approximately 6:30 p.m.

The women’s team will play two exhibition games prior to the State Farm Tip-Off Classic. The Lady Tigers take on Loyola-New Orleans on Nov. 5 and then face the Houston Jags on Nov. 11 in a game that was originally scheduled for Nov. 10.
