BATON ROUGE — The LSU Athletic Department has been notified that the contract to provide shuttle buses to the LSU campus for football fans has been cancelled and has resulted in the discontinuation of the shuttle bus service from downtown Baton Rouge on football game days.
LSU will continue to fund the routes it traditionally funds to run game day shuttle bus routes from Westmoreland Shopping Center and from Farr Park. Also, LSU will operate its handicap shuttle service from Lot M near the LSU tennis courts to Tiger Stadium on game day. LSU shares the costs of the Farr Park route with BREC.
Round-trip tickets for the Westmoreland and Farr Park routes will continue to be $15 per person.
Federal regulations prohibit the tax-supported Capital Area Transit System from providing bus service to LSU games if any private companies express interest in providing the service. Prior to the 2008 season, a private bus company agreed to provide the service and did so for the first three home games of the year, but that company has now given notice it no longer intends to provide the service. The downtown bus service will no longer be operational.
