BATON ROUGE — The LSU softball team’s fall schedule has been set, head coach Yvette Girouard announced on Monday.
The Tigers will once again host the LSU Collegiate Classic that will run Friday through Sunday in the original Tiger Park. LSU will play host to several teams from around the state as Nicholls State, Louisiana College, LSU-Alexandria and UL-Monroe will compete in the tournament. Chipola Community College, located in Marianna, Fla., is the only out-of-state team at the tournament.
LSU will open the tournament Friday in a doubleheader against Nicholls State beginning at 6 p.m.
Five games will be played on the second day of the tournament, and the Tigers will play the final two at 3 p.m. against Louisiana College and at 5 p.m. against LSU-Alexandria.
LSU will compete in two of the final three games on Sunday as the Tigers will take on Chipola C.C. at 11 a.m. followed by UL-Monroe at 1 p.m.
LSU has played the Fall Collegiate Classic every year since 1998 with the exception of 2002 when the tournament was rained out. Last season the Tigers finished 5-0 in the tournament and outscored opponents 35-1.
On Oct. 22, LSU will close out fall ball in a nine inning contest against Southeastern Louisiana at 5 p.m. in the original Tiger Park.
