BATON ROUGE — LSU junior guard Garrett Temple was one of 16 players named Monday to the Collegeinsider.com Division I All-America Defensive Team.
Temple has been regarded during his career as a defensive specialist, most notably since his freshman year when he held J.J. Reddick of Duke in check in LSU’s Sweet 16 win over Duke at the Georgia Dome en route to the Tigers NCAA Final Four appearance in 2006.
Again this season, Temple several times held team’s leading scorer under wraps, especially in the latter part of the season when the Tigers rallied for finish 5-5 over the last 10 games.
Rather than assembling first, second, third and fourth team squads, the collegeinsider.com Defensive All-America team is one team consisting of 16 players. Division I coaches and NBA scouts are part of the selection process, but final decision rests with the collegeinsider.com staff.
