BATON ROUGE — LSU junior college transfer Marcus Thornton and freshman forward Anthony Randolph were named to the All-SEC Team announced Monday by the Associated Press as voted on by members of the media who cover the teams in the league.
Thornton, the 6-4 junior from Baton Rouge, made the media’s second team after finishing second in the league in scoring at 19.6 points per game with the second most three pointers in a single season in LSU history, 90.
Randolph, a 6-10 freshman from Dallas, was named to the honorable mention list after averaging 15.6 points per game (13th in the league) and a third best total of 8.5 rebounds a game.
Shan Foster of Vanderbilt was chosen the men’s player of the year, while Bruce Pearl of Tennessee was the coach of the year with Nick Calathes, of Florida the newcomer of the year.
