Divers Ware, Neubacher Honored by SEC

BATON ROUGE — Freshman Michael Neubacher and sophomore Rachel Ware of the LSU diving team were recognized by the Southeastern Conference office on Tuesday. Ware was selected as the SEC Female Diver of the Week, while Neubacher was chosen as the SEC Male Freshman of the Week.
 
Ware won three out of her four events and finished second in the other against Florida State and Florida this past weekend. Last Friday, the two-time NCAA All-American took first place in the 3-meter with 291.10 points against Florida State and second in the 1-meter with 233.40 points.
 
Ware captured victories in both of the female diving events last Saturday against No. 7 Florida. She posted a score of 286.50 in the 1-meter and tallied 301.50 points in the 3-meter against the Gators.
 
Neubacher won both of the male diving events against No. 5 Florida. The Windermere, Fla., native tallied 284.19 points in the 1-meter springboard and posted 311.48 points in the 3-meter springboard.
 
The honor is the second of Ware’s career and a first for Neubacher. Ware first received the honor earlier this year for the week of Oct. 29 ? Nov. 6 for her efforts in LSU’s wins against Alabama and Vanderbilt.
 
The Tigers return to the pool on Saturday where they will face the Texas A&M Aggies. Senior Day activites will take place before the meet to honor LSU’s six seniors: Kevin Braud, Paige Brown, Stefanie Carver, Miko Malberg, Clare Schepens and Joseph Veron
