Women’s Golf Ninth Through Two Rounds at Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The 26th-ranked LSU Lady Tiger golf team posted the same score for the second straight day but fell a position to a tie for ninth after two rounds of the UA-Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate here Saturday at the Northriver Golf Course.

However, one of LSU’s freshmen, Amalie Valle moved forward on the second day and stands in sixth place in the individual competition just two shots out of the lead going to Sunday’s final round.

LSU shot its second straight 20-over par on the par 71 course and its 304 total included an 80 in the counting scores for the second straight day as LSU tried to put together four counting scores. The Tigers are tied with 35th ranked South Carolina as the Lady Gamecocks shot 308 on the second day. The two teams are at 40-over par 608.

The tournament continued to see high team scores and LSU lost just four shots to the lead as sixth-ranked Arkansas continues to lead at 27-over 595 after a 16-over par 300 on the second day. The Lady Razorbacks are one shot ahead of Louisville at 596 and one more shot ahead of Notre Dame at 29-over 597. Host Alabama was the closest to par on the day at eight-over 292 to move to seventh at 37-over 605.

Valle posted a one-over 72 in the second round to match up with Friday’s three-over 74 to stand at four-over 216 after 36 holes. Stefanie Kenoyer of Furman (69-75) and Stacy Lewis of Arkansas (68-76) are tied for the individual lead as the field tightened considerably in the individual competition at two-over 144.

LSU also counted a four-over par 75 by freshman Lindy LaBauve, a six-over 77 by senior Alexis Rather and an 80 by Megan McChrystal.

The final round of the tournament is set for Sunday with live scoring of the round available at www.golfstat.com.
