LEXINGTON, Ky. — The LSU men’s tennis team will be back in action Thursday morning when eight Tigers compete in the ITA Southeast Regional tournament held at the University of Kentucky this weekend.
Singles play will begin at 7 a.m. CDT. Thursday morning. Singles play is a 256 draw. Nationally ranked players, seeds and placed players will be block seeded and advance to the round of 64. Doubles will be a 64-team draw. There will be a consolation tournament held on Thursday and Friday for those eliminated in the first round.
“This is the first competition for Ryan (Lissner) and I know he is looking forward to it,” LSU head coach Jeff Brown said. “The other guys are building off the practice and experience they have already gained this fall. We look forward to a high level of competition. Any good results you get here will go a long way in moving yourself up the lineup.”
Sebastian Carlsson and Jonathan Tragardh will kick off the day’s action at 7 a.m. in the first round of singles. Martel Campbell will face fellow Southeastern Conference competitor Jeremy Tweedy of Tennessee at 10:30 a.m. Julien Gauthier, Ryan Lissner and Jan Zelezny will compete in the afternoon.
Seniors Kevin Dessauer and Colt Gaston are block seeded and will begin on Friday in the round of 64.
In doubles, LSU will represent four teams. Match times will be determined after Thursday’s competition is complete.
The Tournament will run through Monday, Oct. 22.
