PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — Megan Falcon moved two steps closer to repeating as champion in the consolation singles semifinals, and Falcon and Hannah Robinson advanced to the doubles semifinals at the Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships presented by Fila on Friday.
Falcon, the nation’s top-ranked player, responded to her first loss of the season by dominating 25th-ranked Ela Kaluder of Arkansas 6-0, 6-3.
“Megan looked like her old self today,” head coach Tony Minnis said. “She played relaxed on the court, and when that happens she shows that she is a phenomenal player.”
Falcon and Robinson, ranked No. 13 in the country, moved into the doubles semifinals of the main draw by default over No. 1 Megan Moulton-Levy and Katarina Zoricic of William & Mary.
The duo will face third-ranked Kristi Miller and Whitney McCray of Georgia Tech for the right to advance to the finals.
Falcon received a bye in the first round of the consolation bracket and advanced to the quarterfinals where she defeated Kaluder.
In the consolation singles semifinals, Falcon will take on 15th-ranked Jessica Nguyen of Stanford, whom Falcon defeated in a walkover at this tournament last season.
