BATON ROUGE — Five members of the LSU gymnastics team made the most of their day off last week as they traveled to New Orleans to volunteer for a Habitat for Humanity project in the Ninth Ward.
Sophomores Susan Jackson and Summer Hubbard along with freshmen Samantha Engle, Nicole Lyons and Staci Schwitkis helped raise the foundation of a house to meet the new building regulations established for the Ninth Ward since Hurricanes Katrina ravaged the area over two years ago.
The ladies worked from the morning through the evening to finish their portion of the project. Eventually a house will be framed and completed on top of the foundation.
