BROWNS SUMMITT, N.C. — A second consecutive day of struggle for the LSU women’s golf team saw the LSU Lady Tigers shoot three shot more, but move up one spot to 14th after the second round of the Bryan National Collegiate here Saturday at the Bryan Park Golf Course.
The Lady Tigers followed Friday’s 311 with a 314 on Saturday to stand at 49-over 625 after 36 holes of the 54-hole event played in very cold and windy conditions that frustrated players throughout.
Florida is the leader in the tournament at 16-over par 592, one shot ahead of Duke and Purdue at 17-over par 593. Duke has rounds of 292-301 and first-round leader Purdue posted a round of 303 to go with a first-round 290. North Carolina is fourth at 24-over 600.
Kim Meck had the low counting round for LSU of 76 with Melissa Eaton shooting her second consecutive round of 77 on Saturday. The Tigers had to count two 80-plus rounds in their score in the second round with Alexis Rather posting 80 and Rebecca Kuhn 81. Meck is tied for 26th as the low individual for the Lady Tigers with a nine-over 153. Eaton at 154 is in a tie for 35th.
Amanda Blumenherst of Duke and Maria Hernandez of Purdue are tied for the individual tournament lead at even par 144. Blumenherst shot rounds of 73-71 and Hernandez had rounds of 71-73.
The final round is scheduled for 10 a.m. CDT on Sunday with live scoring at www.golfstat.com.
