BATON ROUGE — A total of nine Super Bowl rings will be on the sidelines Saturday when LSU hosts its annual spring football game in Tiger Stadium as six former Tigers, who now currently play in the NFL, will serve as guest coaches for the contest.
Kickoff for the Super Tiger Bowl is scheduled for noon on Saturday in Tiger Stadium. The game will be broadcast on 100.7 FM in Baton Rouge.
Serving as guest coaches for the contest include running back Joseph Addai and defensive tackle Booger McFarland from the Indianapolis Colts along with running back/return specialist Kevin Faulk, defensive end Marquise Hill, linebacker Eric Alexander, and defensive back Randall Gay of the New England Patriots.
Addai and McFarland both played key roles in the Colts’ march to their first Super Bowl title two months ago. McFarland also has another Super Bowl ring as he was part of Tampa Bay’s Super Bowl championship team in 2003. Faulk has three Super Bowl rings to his credit, while Hill, Alexander and Gay have been a part of one Super Bowl winning team.
Addai and McFarland will serve as guest coaches for the White Team, while the four Patriots will work with the Purple Team.
“We’re excited about having these former players come back and be a part of the spring game,” LSU coach Les Miles said. “It’s great that our former players want to come back and continue to be involved with the program. They helped build the tradition here and I think it’s important for our current players to be able to interact with former players and see what an education and the opportunity to play football at LSU can do for you.”
