BATON ROUGE — The No. 21-ranked LSU men’s tennis had a near-perfect performance Saturday afternoon as they did not lose a game in singles in rout to a 6-0 victory against Centenary at the W.T. “Dub” Robinson Tennis Stadium.

“The guys did a good job of focusing on the task at hand today,” LSU associate head coach Mark Boras said. “We have a lot of depth this year, which gave a number of players an opportunity to compete and gain experience these past two days.”

The Tigers maintained their tradition of strong doubles play as they took both matches by an 8-1 decision.

In singles, court one’s match of Ken Skupski against Centenary’s Alejandro Ahuja was cut short as Ahuja was injured in the early goings of the match, forcing him to retire. The match will count as a win for Skupski and is the 92nd of his career, which gives him sole possession of 9th place in LSU’s career singles wins rankings.

Newcomer Jan Zelezny continues to shine as a Tiger as he has yet to lose a game in dual play and clinched the match for LSU by defeating Centenary’s Seva Kostelanetz, 6-0, 6-0.

“We have a great team and I am pleased with my first two matches,” Zelezny said. “It was great to see everybody go 6-0, 6-0 today and hopefully we can continue to play well tomorrow.”

The Tigers are now 19-0 all time against the Gents.

LSU will be in action again on Sunday when they take on Southern Miss at 1 p.m. at the Paula G. Manship YMCA located at 8100 Plaza Dr. in Baton Rouge. LSU head coach Jeff Brown said he expects the home courts to be ready for next Saturday’s match against UL-Lafayette.
